Off-season vegetables in Burkina Faso - Tin Tua project

In Tousin village, Gnagna district PROTA sponsors a second project, where 96 members of three women groups are growing four vegetables: onion (Allium cepa), tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum), okra (Abelmoschus esculentus) and eggplant (Solanum melongena) under irrigation. Association Tin Tua in Fada N’Gourma implements the project that began in April 2006.

The funds were used to purchase irrigation equipment, tools and farm inputs like fertilizer and vegetables seeds. The women were also able to buy solar driers to preserve the surplus vegetables for future use.
