Regional and Country Officers’ Meeting 2006
The 5th Regional Officers and Country Officers Meeting (ROCOM) was held from
8–12 May 2006 in Lilongwe, Malawi. During the meeting the activities of the regional offices were evaluated and plans for the coming year were discussed.
In this year, the Network Africa will be strengthened with several new Contact Persons in countries in all 6 Regions.
Compiling records for ‘Afrirefs’, the database containing references to the'grey' literature on plant resources of Tropical Africa, has been a priority and the target for the year 2005 has been met. In the coming year, work on Afrirefs will continue, and more attention will be given to 'Expertise', the database with addresses of scientists working on plant resources of Tropical Africa.
 The new facility ‘Sales at the door’ was discussed. All officers are encouraged to sell the PROTA books and CD-Roms. Possibilities for promotion of PROTA and administrative details of this programme were discussed.
Progress of the PROTA Small Projects Initiative (PSPI) was presented. Monitoring and evaluation of the projects was discussed.
